2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Oh, thank you [Teufelsweib]! I just noticed you found it! xD
2008-07-16 [Hedda]: [True, plain and simple]: Of course it has. At bob's diner, of course.
2008-07-16 [Mortified Penguin]: Don't listen to him, folks! He's lying! That never happened!
2008-07-16 [Teufelsweib]: you're welcome :)
and thanks for turning the brackets back to black...
2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: That diner place... scared me. xD
2008-07-16 [Kyrinn]: I got a good laugh out of that. XD
2008-07-16 [FAE]: I love being able to choose in whose house I appear. It's my favorite update!
2008-07-16 [Jewl]: Ah! The blue was fine in messages, but now it's too much! Why not orange? or some other naturey-like color?
2008-07-16 [Balthizar]: Any word on the return of the stylesheets?
2008-07-16 [windowframe]: I'm using a stylesheet right now. <.< Mind, it's only a small one to change the colour of the new messages/gb/fo
2008-07-16 [Hedda]: [Balthizar]: Whenever someone is bored enough to fix them.
[windowframe] seems pretty bored now...
2008-07-16 [Hedda]: [windowframe]: When you're done, you can send me the wiki-links, and I can add the stylesheet(s) as official ones.
I guess that one will be called "boring.css"..
2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Thats a creative name. xD
2008-07-16 [Zab]: uhm.. how/where do I export wikis? O_o The buttons are gooone! Or moved:P
2008-07-16 [True, plain and simple]: Select an exported option in the drop down in the edit should work. :)
2008-07-16 [Zab]: But wasn't there more exported options before? export, export as raw, stop exporting and stuff?
2008-07-16 [True, plain and simple]: Oh, there were. You can select how you want to export by choosing between Pseudo-HTML and Real HTML on the edit page as well. The buttons themselves are gone (I don't know why, just pointing out how you can do it now :P).
2008-07-16 [Zab]: ok... I guess I'll try..O__o
2008-07-16 [windowframe]: Hah, okay. :P
2008-07-16 [Balthizar]: Huzzah!
I used the halloween one cause it's the only one where my eyes dont burn from it being too bright.
It's hard to edit your RP's when your eyes are on fire. xD
*goes back to buthering Allies on WoW*
2008-07-16 [Zab]: I'll just leave the stylesheet making to someone who doesn't make everything white and messy.. xD
2008-07-16 [windowframe]: What kind of stylesheet are you trying to make, Zab? O.o
2008-07-16 [Zab]: A dark one.. x)
2008-07-16 [Trennas]: sounds like a very dirty kind of stylesheet XD
2008-07-16 [Imperator]: Argh! Black usernames! *dies a horrible death*
I don't like all the changes to link colors... I made a suggestion for greens and browns to form a sort of tree-like style on ERA; what about that instead of black and blue?
2008-07-16 [Hedda]: The export-buttons aren't gone! They have moved the the edit-form.
2008-07-16 [Zab]: Hey! xD It wasn't! Anyone please make a ''stylesheets for dummies'' guide.. x) Where it's only possible to change colors and perhaps the left border.. x) Which should be possible to do just randomly by entering random numbers.. xD
2008-07-16 [Zab]: I tried looking for them there but couldn't find them..O_o
2008-07-16 [Hedda]: [Zab]: I have to think about that. Elfpack is also wishing for some sort of Stylesheet editor, so I might do that.
2008-07-16 [Paul Doyle]: Hmm, since we're experimenting with text-colors and such, why not go for a "psychedelic hippie look" on the anniversary of Woodstock (which is 15-18 August), and get all the experimenting done in one fell swoop? (Of course, post a link to the standard stylesheet for those duly traumatized or eye-burned)
2008-07-16 [Zab]: It would be truly awesome :P
Actually.. a page like that css.txt thingy, but with like coloured text (on the parts that changes like.. colours) and some explanation on exactly what each part will change would probably make it a lot easier..>_>
2008-07-16 [True, plain and simple]: Making the CSS easier to navigate by simplifying things would be good too.. :P
2008-07-16 [Cia_mar]: is it possible to make something like:
have an example style sheet
and with in each section have a drop down menu that has the code it in,
then when you change the code, you press preview to see what the outcome of the change is...
once you finish all the editing, have a button that "generates the style sheet" for you???
2008-07-16 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: That would be awesome.
2008-07-17 [Taxicab Messiah]: I'm not too thrilled on the new style.
But eh.
2008-07-17 [NamelessMerc]: I personally like the new style, but have just one small criticism; the new colour for wiki changes, new comments etc. is rather bright and, for me at least, quite difficult to distinguish from the background colour of the boxes.
2008-07-17 [Taxicab Messiah]: Colors kinda mess with my eyes, it's kinda hard for me to read the text on the buttons.
It's probably the text being kinda funky for me, and that it's black on that green.
Looks kinda squished? I can't seem to explain it right.
But yeah, the text on the buttons screws with my eyes. Hahah.
2008-07-17 [Lothuriel]: I love the new colors!
2008-07-17 [Ramirez]: I'm not sure how I feel about this black text. It looks kind of weird against light green, but I guess I can get over it. o.O
2008-07-17 [Lothuriel]: I think any other color would be hard to read.
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: A nice Maroon color would look good...
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: Also, is it just me or are people using IE not able to see the blue colored updates...? They appear the same old color for me... however, when I use Firefox they're blue...
2008-07-17 [Imperator]: I see them in IE7. Is that what you're using?
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: Who knows... it's whatever version came with Vista.
2008-07-17 [Imperator]: Probably IE7 then. It's the newest version.
P.S. Vista is getting phased out by Microsoft because it sucks and they'll be out with a fixed version in a few years.
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: Whenever I get tired of Vista I just use my other computer! ...or my laptop...
2008-07-17 [Balthizar]: I see the blue
and i'm using IE7 and Vista...
So..maybe your computer sucks?
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: Couldn't be... I can see it when I use Firefox, just not IE...
2008-07-17 [Hedda]: [Mortified Penguin]: Press reload!
2008-07-17 [Paul Doyle]: Reload . . . lock-and-load, and put your computer out of its misery with a single rifle shot, Mort?
2008-07-17 [Azuri]: O.o everywhere I look says XP is getting phased out not Vista and it will be gone by the looks of it around the end of this summer.
2008-07-17 [moira hawthorne]: I noticed two things I dont like...
are the user names in wiki comments suppose to be unlinked?
and also alot of wiki with images seem to be compressing the photos down to almost lines...
and they run over the comments at the bottom... it looks a mess...
2008-07-17 [Zantia]: .....D: Stop taking all the green away! It's like chopping down the tree's of elftown to make way for boring flat uncoloured car parks ;-;
lawl, But seriously...wh
2008-07-17 [Cia_mar]: moira... the names still link in the comments... just are black....that is all..(just checked ... cuz i thought so too initially)
2008-07-17 [moira hawthorne]: ooooooh so they do! weird... well Im not sure I prefer black over green but I can live with it... it just doesnt seem like an improvement at all... one thing I use to tell new people was anything green is a link!
the photo images getting squished to lines and making a mess of wikis I cant tho... its really ugly!
2008-07-17 [Cia_mar]: which wiki are you talking about....?
i have not seen any probs with pics lately... not since updating my browser
2008-07-17 [True, plain and simple]: Moira - The image issue is fixed if you upgrade your browser. It was working fine before, but it seems like Firefox 2 decided not to play nicely anymore. I'm trying to find a solution that works, but I can't promise anything since it may be beyond our control. >:/
2008-07-17 [All_Most PUNK]: Hedda, worst blue color ever. That's all I have to say :P
EDIT: I still love you, don't feel bad ;)
2008-07-17 [Lothuriel]: awww...but, but...
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: I think Elftown's best year ever was 2005... Back then, new members would arrive by the boatload... at any given time there would be 500+ people online. Recently though, I haven't seen more than 200 on at a time in a year or so... whatever happened to Elftown...?
2008-07-17 [Calico Tiger]: We kicked out people who were here just to pick up "easy girls" and cyber
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: So that's where all of Elfpack's members came from...
2008-07-17 [Cia_mar]: while ET is going through all these changes... do you think it is possible to make a feature for $donors$ that they get to add colored text to the wikis they own, like they do to their descriptions? and is there a possibility of giving us a choice in our edit personal info to choose the color of our names???
2008-07-17 [Hedda]: [Cia_mar]: If donors could use colours in the wiki, everyone would ask them to pimp their wiki-pages. That would be annoying for the donors.
So either we allow everyone to use colours everywhere or no one can do it.
2008-07-17 [Sturmi]: You could pick colors that actually matched O_o
I agree with [All_Most PUNK] about the blue.
2008-07-17 [Dark Side of the Moon]: The blue makes me think I've a bunch of messages waiting to be read when I really don't. How about Medium Sea Green, code #3CB371? http://www.htm
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]:
2008-07-17 [Mortified Penguin]: I don't know why I even put those last three... that colors look terrible. The one on top is the Sea Green... but I still prefer the maroon...
2008-07-17 [Leita]: Could you change the colour of the page???? It's a little bit disturbing to see that all the page is green!! buttons are gree, background, decoration... there are other colours, you know... sometimes too much of any colour makes you dizzy
2008-07-17 [Artsieladie]: Well, one of the things that I 'love' about Elftown is its traditional "Elftown Green" appearance. I wouldn't want this traded in for anything. This is why people can opt for something different with different stylesheets, if they don't like Elftown's traditional green look. :P
This is charming --> ..DOT... :P
2008-07-17 [Ramirez]: I think all the green is Elftowns selling point, to be honest. I love the green. Makes it feel all...forestry and welcoming. XD Though I'd be horrified if all the green was gone. I think the five+ years I've been here of tradition would be like... a huge cultural shock to me. But if it's an option to change the colors, then I wouldn't really care if I didn't have to leave behind this comforting green.
2008-07-17 [Dark Side of the Moon]: The background is not just green. It is institution green. It's a very calming and therapeutic colour for the inmates...erm, I mean, the members.
2008-07-17 [Paul Doyle]: Just take care to not get institutionali
2008-07-17 [Sturmi]: but it could be white and green or something of the sort... not everything needs to be green. Maybe you could do a design contest.
2008-07-17 [Artsieladie]: I don't want Elftown to lose all of its 'traditional' charm which is promotional in and of itself and the Elftown Green is a part of this charm, I think. :)
2008-07-18 [Blood Sucking Beauty]: i like the green background. the only thing i dont like is that Everything is green. i love green, its my favorite color, but it gets to be too much when thats all you see on one page. adding a little contrast would put the eyes at ease a bit instead of straining to differentiate from whats what.
2008-07-18 [Doormat]: Either the blues goes or I do >:(
(lulz @ teh Oskar Whiled)
2008-07-18 [Artsieladie]: Well, as discussed in previous comments here, one has the choice to change their stylesheets, then one can have as little or as much green as they like or none at all, if they so wish. But I think Elftown's traditional & default stylesheet should stay as is. :)
There are a couple of changes that I am not thrilled about myself, but there is no way that any of us can expect Hedda & True & whoever else is working on this to make each & every one of us happy, b/c apparently we all like different things, b/c we all have different tastes, likes & dislikes. I've been reading all of the comments here, & if I were Hedda & True, my head would be spinning, knowing full well, that no matter how they do things, everyone is not going to be pleased. If anyone expects this, then I say you are asking the impossible. This has got to be one huge undertaking, not to mention the bugs that pop up as a result that need to be addressed. I think we all need to realise what they are really trying to do & take our hats off to them & cut them a little slack. When I come to this page, I can almost hear everyone all talking at once, each trying to talk above the other to get what they want heard. No matter how it ends up, I trust Hedda & True will do their best to make it as best they can & what will be the most practical solutions. They've brought ET this far, so we need to put our faith in them that they will continue as they have. We need to be a little more accepting & a little less demanding, I think. I just felt compelled to say this, but it's not to offend anyone, but just to give Hedda & True a little more credit, which they certainly deserve. :)
2008-07-18 [rinkydink]: Right you are, but still, the invitation was to tell them what we thought of the updates. Some might take it a bit personal, not liking any change at all, et cetera. But the discussion is about feedback, and Hedda is getting that.
2008-07-18 [Artsieladie]: Yes, I know this, but he puts something down here & someone then wants it up there & the next says, no, no in the middle. It's all good to give feedback, but we just have to stop & think what they are up against, too. I guess this is more what I'm trying to say. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes for all of the money in the world! God Bless 'em! :)
2008-07-18 [Calico Tiger]: Getting feed-back is good! Demanding that something changes or you leave is not constructive feed-back :D
2008-07-18 [rinkydink]: Yes. So there are still some who aren't mature enough to see that difference.
2008-07-18 [Doormat]: I was just quoting Oscar Wilde.
I am not cereal. :P
2008-07-18 [Calico Tiger]: Awwwww but I want Lucky Charms D:<
2008-07-18 [Ramirez]: I'm not sure if this is because of the new update, or my own stupidity, but is there a particular reason why some of my links to wiki's just look like, for example, Council@wiki (with the brackets and all), with no clickable link? Do I have too much stuff going on, or am I just incompetent? Or is it ET's fault! O=
2008-07-18 [True, plain and simple]: Your first wiki-link was missing the closing bracket. I added it now, and I think that fixes things for you.
2008-07-18 [Ramirez]: ooooh, well thank you then.
2008-07-18 [True, plain and simple]: Jah. :)
2008-07-18 [Draymond]: Alright, one bone to pick with these new changes; the fact that I can't find the proper button to add a wiki page to my notes so I can create a bookmark out of it to effect ease of wiki access without having to remember and type a (usually lenghthily) page name. Any help there would be smashing.
2008-07-18 [moira hawthorne]: its in the middle of the side banner
2008-07-18 [Draymond]: I may be blind, could you be more specific, please?
2008-07-18 [True, plain and simple]: Click the "Bookmark" button in the top-right corner, which will bring up the form that used to exist at the bottom of the page.
2008-07-18 [Ramirez]: On the top right under the 'new messages' box and then it'll say the wiki's name, and have 5 green button, the third one down is the "watch this wiki".
Or that XD
2008-07-18 [Draymond]: Silly place for it...jeeze. Hidden like everything else. The changes have made RPing hell in some instances.
Thanks for the help. ^^
2008-07-18 [Zantia]: Can the names on these comments be turned back to green? It makes it harder to scan to find the place where you last read before all the new comments. >.o Or just another colour other than black?
2008-07-18 [Delladreing]: Some people certainly do.
2008-07-18 [Paul Doyle]: Well, I'm not here to enjoy the "sound" of my written voice. The only thing I suggest is: offer two (2) stylesheets. One would be fairly similar to the "old" stylesheet if not actually the same thing, and the second would be whatever the newest stylesheet has become. That simple. Maybe this would cut down on potential drama. And that's it! Have a good day :)
(And [manwe] , since you had the gall to mention me by name, do think twice about trying to become "the outspoken voice of the community". That's not at ALL the way it works out ET. It can and will backfire like you would not believe ;-P )
2008-07-18 [Calico Tiger]: I'm sure there will be several stylesheets available. But I doubt they'll be worked on until after [Hedda]'s done revamping things. It would be annoying to keep having to fix the style sheets several times a day during this :O
2008-07-18 [Teufelsweib]: some people (I won't mention manwe by name) should stop trying to speak for everyone and deciding what's best and what's not.
try to keep it nice, will ya? jeez...
it's just a colour and a few buttons that have been changed, and the lay-out here and there. the whole purpose of ET didn't change. the most important things can still be done and they work properly, everyone really should relax O_o
2008-07-18 [Paul Doyle]: Yes, mad props to [Hedda]. Personally (all silly joking aside, and I realize I can get too jokey for my own good) I think people who constantly gripe and gloat over these visual changes need to get outside more often. Elftown, to the best of my knowledge, is an evolving community, an ongoing experiment if you will. Of course there's going to be ugly or unsightly things along the way, which get remedied in due time. Why don't we just give [Hedda] a warm round of applause for what has been done so far, an even bigger round of applause for putting up with miscreants and smacktards and people who carry their own political podiums around with them 24-7-365. So bugger off, people who are here to divide and bully and cause drama, and hello to those who are kind and respectful and open-minded. That's all I'm saying :-/
2008-07-18 [Paul Doyle]: Amen,[Teufelsweib] . . . some of us are trying to be light and conversant in an attempt to defuse tensions and "seriousness".
2008-07-18 [Teufelsweib]: three cheers to that!! :)
2008-07-18 [Easterling]: Very well spoken both of you. :)
2008-07-18 [Azuri]: After getting used to it I like the new updates save for the blue color which I changed so it can be done and isn't that big of a deal.
2008-07-18 [Paul Doyle]: I tolerate the different colors because (1) I have a sense of humor (2) I have Elf12 xperience and am accustomed to groovy, varied colors that may or not burn my eyes but oh well (3) Again, it's a work in progress. Just think of a remastered classic rock CD that has a bunch of extra tracks which are ususally WIP's or demos. (For example . . . the remastered Going For the One CD by Yes from 1977, the one that has a naked guy on the cover.) Have you ever actually listened to those "extra tracks"? Some of them are so rough your ears bleed . . . but when you consider the final product is sublimely beautiful, the quibbles should stop immediately. Give it time, people, and let's have some encouragement. (And here's to maybe having that psychedelic hippie stylesheet for the 15-18 August anniversary of Woodstock, just for the sake of having a sense of humor?)
2008-07-18 [Teufelsweib]: and to those who can't stand it and apparently get a headache because of something like a colour... try looking outside away from your computer screen, you'll be surprised how many bright colours there actually are ;P (or go to god and request more subtle colours... and say hi from me)
but my suggestion is: log out of ET, give your significant other the attention he/she deserves and has been missing the past few months, and somewhere at the end of august come back, the updates ought to be finished by then ;)
(and this is also self-mocking, since I sit much too often behind this computer aswell, so it's not pointed out to anyone and I won't mention names like... oh well, nevermind)
2008-07-18 [Teufelsweib]: though the part of the attention giving to the significant other wasn't directed towards myself >_>;;;
I give him a lot of attention... we chat a lot and such :P
2008-07-18 [Easterling]: You're adorable, [Teufelsweib]. I love you for that last comment. X)
2008-07-18 [Paul Doyle]: Careful about that sun. Do consider a suncreen with a minimum rating of SPF 3000. Computers + indoors activity = wickedly sensitive skin.
2008-07-18 [Teufelsweib]: and some helpful information for some people around here:
outside, those guys with a swollen breast; those are called women :P
2008-07-18 [Paul Doyle]: And since I've been enraptured and enslaved by a female of the species for eleven years running: those protruberances are not mosquito bites, so please lay off the calamine lotion.
2008-07-18 [Azuri]: For most people yes sunscreen would be good, I burn once and am tan year around after that XD
I spend forever on ET but I still manage a life and work lol.
2008-07-18 [Paul Doyle]: Me too. *goes off to work*
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: chill the fuck out, dude.
if someone says anything about the updates, the point gets through. that is the most important thing.
we don't clutter up the page as you're suggesting, don't exaggerate, just having a short talk and a laugh at people who are all fussed up about nothing, like yourself.
it's not your page, if you can't stand it; go somewhere else. and take your additude and crankiness with you, will ya?
2008-07-20 [All_Most PUNK]: People, I think it's enough of this. Move the discussion to private messages or a private wiki if you want to continue it. Thanks.
2008-07-20 [Sauron]: Do consider, [manwe], that if people who fix helicopters would talk of nothing but the helicopters, if people who did something talked of nothing but themselves, if people in a bar talked of nothing but whiskey, and if people in a wiki deticated to some upgrades in a place you might refer to as Elftown etc etc, the world would be a very boring place...
2008-07-20 [Imperator]: Noooooo! The line thingy under the buttons at the top is gone! I liked that feature....
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: I'm using IE6 right now and the background of the new leaves (which are awesome btw :3) is purple O_o I guess it's a .png?and the buttons at the top are still scrambled for us IE6 users...
I'm using my father's laptop, which is why I can't upgrade to IE7. but at least it's not as bad as it used to be, but it's still buggy for IE6 (or firefox 2, in that case, I guess)-users
2008-07-20 [Ramirez]: Oh, yes, I love the new leaves at the top, by the way. They're a tad bit dark, but I think that makes it all the better. =D
2008-07-20 [True, plain and simple]: http://www.rev
I'll fix the IE6 issue later. :)
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: [manwe], this thread was ended. :)
if you have anything more to say, send it in a personal message.
(as [All_Most PUNK] requested)
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: and thanks a lot for the link, True :)
2008-07-20 [Ramirez]: The more bickering you write here, the more [Hedda] has to decipher between what is a problem/sugges
2008-07-20 [Linderel]: This is very true.
Which is exactly why I removed the two comments before [Ramirez]'s. Argument stops here. Thank you, have a good day.
2008-07-20 [Calico Tiger]: DROP IT. Take bickering to personal messages. Suggestions and bug reports are wanted here. Not drama. This is not to any one single person but to every single person involved.
*edit* I have now deleted 2 comments by two different people on this matter. You are more than welcome to talk about your suggestions and what you dislike about the changes. It's welcomed. Bitching at eachother is not. And if any of you wish to whine to friends about your comments that were not in any way pertaining to what this page is for, that were just fighting and bickering at eachother, were deleted, feel free. Also feel free to tell them how evil and power abusive I am. Either way, keep it off of this page and keep it to suggestions (good or bad), bug reports, and what's not working and what is.
2008-07-20 [Imperator]: Will the line under the top menu buttons come back?
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: I can't really recall a line under the top menu... I guess I never really give details enough attention xD
what did the line look like?
2008-07-20 [Ramirez]: I think it was just like a line that 'contained' the buttons. If I remember right.
2008-07-20 [Imperator]: When you hovered your mouse over a button on the top menu, a white/yellow looking line appeared under the button. I liked that.
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: oh that linexD which made the buttons look slightly 3D-ish, no?
I guess it doesn't fit with the new lay-out, either that, or they didn't fix it yet... though I'm afraid it's the first. =/
2008-07-20 [Atayemi]: Oh, yeah! I forgot about that line. O_o I liked it too.
2008-07-20 [Imperator]: No. No! That's not true! That's impossible! Noooooo!!
But the new background up there looks like a tree canopy. Maybe the leaves to the left are going to become a tree trunk!
2008-07-20 [Hedda]: [True, plain and simple]: OK, I've started using the new http://www.rev
What's wrong with the layout in IE 6.0 now again? Didn't we fix that?
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: I just know that the top buttons are scrambled up a bit, that's all. and I'm using IE6 right now (but I don't know if more IE6 users are having this problem)
2008-07-20 [Linderel]: Screenshot!
2008-07-20 [Hedda]: Yes, please give a screenshot. I don't have an IE 6.0 close, and neither does anyone who cares about anything...
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]:
I mean, this is scrambled a bit, right? :S
2008-07-20 [Atayemi]: Mine is different to that and I'm using the latest version of IE. The bottom row, from forums and onwards, they are pushed to the left while the top row is just fine. I'll screenshot it too.
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: thought so, yeah... I also use IE7 on an other computer and it looks like you described there.
2008-07-20 [Atayemi]: *nod nod* They should be somewhat in the middle methinks. :P Here you go: Haha, ignore my film search and being on IMDB constantly. *film nerd* xD
2008-07-20 [Hedda]: [Teufelsweib]: I have no idea why it looks like that, instead of as on [Atayemi]. But it's not important enough to fix as it's quite readable and it's only affecting the least caring 12% of the Elftowners who are going to upgrade sooner or later anyway.
Isn't the grey colour gone now after a reload, by the way?
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: in that case it indeed isn't that a bother, it looks better than when it was all listed underneath each other :)
nope, it's not =/
2008-07-20 [True, plain and simple]: [Teufelsweib]: Did you press F5 to reload the top-image?
2008-07-20 [Teufelsweib]: yeah, I did.
but I now just closed IE and re-opened it, and now it does work! apparently F5 wasn't enough O_o *confused*
oh well, it works now!
2008-07-20 [Hedda]: [manwe]: What do you mean that they don't resize correctly? They shouldn't resize...
2008-07-20 [Hedda]: [manwe]: Seems like the error in FF2.0's resizing function. Don't use it, or upgrade to 3.0 (Can't you download it from www.mozilla.or
2008-07-20 [Diiwica]: I had that issue with one of the updates not all that long ago. I had to uninstall FF and then reinstall it. To be honest, FF does that quite often, thats why I use windows version of Safari.
2008-07-21 [Hedda]: You are missing some fonts?
It's very hard to see exactly what the problem is without a screenshot. I'm not sure what you mean with "not use the browser at full size" either. Are you making the window smaller or are you zooming out?
2008-07-21 [Balthizar]: So wait..how are the links up top supposed to look? All your comments have confused the little peoples brain cells ;-;
2008-07-21 [Blood Sucking Beauty]: yea how are the links on top supposed to look?
2008-07-21 [True, plain and simple]: Like the screenshot that [Atayemi] showed a few comments ago.
2008-07-21 [Blood Sucking Beauty]: mine looks like that just my bottom row starts at "Your Notes" is that good or bad?
2008-07-21 [EnigmaXero]: It's probably the size of your browser window, because on my vista, if I close my sidebar, the bottom row starts with polls. I have a widescreen.
2008-07-21 [Teufelsweib]: so does mine, and I'm using IE7, so I guess it's ok :)
2008-07-21 [True, plain and simple]: It should be fine in IE6 too now, I believe.
2008-07-21 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: I have a 17 inch monitor, and my 'daughter' has a 19 inch monitor. Neither of us use 'full screen' mode, as we always have other things running and such. Our button's look perfectly normal. She has FireFox 3.0 and I have FireFox2points
2008-07-21 [Zantia]: [manwe]: I'm using firefox 3.0 and everything is fine for me. Even when I zoom out and in and go full screen with the browser. Whats special about your monitor?
Screen shots would help when you're trying to explain something. =)
And the harsh blue, you only see it for a fraction of a moment when you click it. It's not like you're forcing yourself to hover your mouse over the button and stare at the blue is it? I don't pay much attention to what the colour of the button is when you click it as long as it sends me to the page that it's intended. :)
(Oh and I have a 19" monitor I think)
2008-07-21 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Okay... well, at least that explains why...
2008-07-21 [Imperator]: Ok, seriously. What does "ymmv" stand for? I searched your house but didn't find anything!
2008-07-21 [Kyrinn]: Maybe instead of asking that question HERE, you could take it to [manwe] in PRIVATE..
2008-07-22 [Avatar15]: [Zantia] Haha~ That's great. I bet it's chat speak or a signature of some kind. o<
I haven't downloaded Stumble Upon yet on my new computer, so pressing that will just direct me to the website (not sure if that's normal for every member). Is the Stumble! button on Elftown to direct Stumble Members to random wiki pages?
2008-07-22 [Remos Page]: I was having a look around main street today,
i looked at the statistics at the bottom of the page
Only 3446 active members left!!
Out of 185783 total members
That means some 82% have gone , how sad:(
2008-07-22 [Avatar15]: Are you serious? :[
2008-07-22 [Hedda]: [Avatar15]:Yes, the Stumble button is to make Stumble members come to the wiki-page you suggest. Pick Up Lines is the most popular now. I suggested Warcraft Artwork to test and that seems to get a few hits too.
2008-07-22 [Avatar15]: Thank you for the clear up~
2008-07-23 [All_Most PUNK]: I need to ask. I know I should, but I have to. Which would be those "staff reprisals"?
And if we didn't want opinions, negative and positive, why would we have created this wiki?
Also, I fail to see how stalking works in an internet site where your presentation is public and only says what you put there. Therefore, if you don't want something seen, you just shouldn't put it there. I defend the position that knowing that certain person (the "stalker") has visited you only adds stress to the "victim", since the stalker can't actually do something to they.
2008-07-23 [windowframe]: I don't see what difference the last visitors list makes as a "stalker" tool whether it's partly there, or not there at all. Also, you can see where other people have just been (i.e. your house) and people want to keep that feature... but they don't want others to be able to see where they've been? :/ Sounds a bit contradictory to me. If they don't want people to see where they've been, then they don't have to add themselves to the last visitors list to that house. I'm pretty sure that if you don't add yourself/are auto-added because you're friends with that person, then it doesn't show up on the 'last visited' list.
Also, Manwe, I think you need to learn to look at "staff" as more than just "staff". we're normal users of this site, too; just like any other use, we like to look at members houses' - because just like any other user, we like to make friends. It saddens me that you seem to assume that it's a bad thing for someone who just happens to be staff comes to your house, and that you can't see past that label.
2008-07-23 [All_Most PUNK]: We should mention here that none of us is paid for crew work. We are doing it because we love ET just like you do and devote time to it just like you do. We are not a corporation making money out of people, our motivation is the same as everybody else's.
2008-07-23 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Okay... for some reason, I can 'comment' to all my friends diaries, except for [Fireblade K'Chona]'s diary entries. I haven't been able to for a couple days now... bug?
2008-07-23 [rinkydink]: As for the 82% of those who have left ET, I've met a few. Believe me, the community can do without them. Then again, there's a few that have mulitple accts, and tend to get pissy and pull them out. I know I've forgotten my password a few times since we had to put numbers in them, as well, and it takes me months to get the time to hunt for them.
Perhaps others don't think it's important enough in their life on the web (oh, the HORROR!)
2008-07-23 [True, plain and simple]: [Khronos Atmosphaera]: Yes. [Hedda] hasn't escaped the apostrophe that's in the user name, so it causes a JavaScript error that prevents the form from loading. Hopefully he'll be able to fix it soon. :)
2008-07-23 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: OoOoOoh, okay. ^^ That makes sense now... sorta... kinda... DX I'm compy dumb, but I accept what you mean. ^^;
2008-07-23 [Ramirez]: I've gotten over the having to add your name to the list, and I actually think it's a lot better. Given, I do forget to add myself a lot, but I don't think this whole 'secret stalking' matter is really an issue. Like [All_Most PUNK] said; your presentation is public and you shouldn't put any information down that you're not comfortable letting just anyone know. As for 'stalking', is it pure paranoia that makes you think you're being stalked, or do you actually have an issue with someone stalking you online? If you're receiving harassing messages from them on ET you can always report them and the matter can be settled that way.
And I'm not exactly sure why you'd think you'd get 'reprisals' from the 'staff' for voicing your opinion. This wiki was made for feedback, and all feedback is appreciated but, to my experience watching this page, might not always be taken into effect.
2008-07-23 [Hedda]: [manwe]: "regarding the alarms function: why is it set up so that after you read the alarm message, and then hide it, it throws you to the main street. this is MOST annoying"
It doesn't do that anymore.
2008-07-23 [Hedda]: [Khronos Atmosphaera]: The issue seems solved now.
2008-07-23 [True, plain and simple]: The Last Visited list only automatically adds people you have a relation with, which seems pretty inconsequentia
If somewhere were so inclined to "stalk" someone they could just as easily go look at the houses of the people who now appear on the Last Visited list on a routine basis if that list wasn't there, in order to derive that information. As it doesn't provide any information that can't be gotten another way, I don't really see why you believe such issues come from it. You don't know either who is visiting your friends for the purpose of looking at their Last Visitor's list, for example, with or without them automatically showing up / the Last Visited list existing.
2008-07-23 [windowframe]: Thanks, but I understood your point first time around. I just disagreed with it. ;) And I still do. Secondly, as I explained before (apparently you didn't understand this part) the last 'visited' list only shows people on whose last visitors list you added yourself. If you went to my house, for instance, and did not add yourself to my last visitors list, then it would not show in your own house that you had visited me. As for my point about the contradictory, it certainly wasn't "pure sophistry" and if you think it was fallacious then you should point out how, rather than resort to sophistry of your own. :) That would certainly be more productive. You want to be able to see that other people have been to your house, but you don't want other people to see whose house you've been to.
Edit: Bah, True beat me to it. :P
2008-07-23 [Paul Doyle]: Personally, I think the visitors list (in whatever incarnation it has been, or will be) is a good thing. If people are stalking because they are weird (and they are neither Guards, Patrollers nor casual but quiet art-admirers) then they are the ones with the problem, not the ET houses. Of course, there's people who go to outrageous lengths simply to GET attention, and the morbidly curious will visit, but that's different to the stereotypical, freaky "stalker".
My point? Just leave the vistor list "as-is" because it gives people the OPTION to leave their names, in most cases. Does a v-list not help friends on this e-community feel more "close-knit"? I strongly sense this was born of compromise, and to be quite frank we really ought to move along to bigger and better things. I'm not going to say any more about this. For those of you who do wish to continue beating this dead horse of an issue to a pulp, look out for vultures and be aware dead, rotting issues tend to smell really badly.
2008-07-23 [windowframe]: If you're going to say something, manwe; say it politely. Your rudeness wasn't called for, and isn't wanted. If you don't want people to delete your comments, learn to play nicely. If you can't, just don't say anything.
2008-07-23 [True, plain and simple]: I know exactly what you want, and I'm telling you that you're not going to get it. There's no point in removing the list from your page so people don't get that information if they can still get the information another way, since it's not a real solution to your "problem". That's really all there is to it.
2008-07-23 [True, plain and simple]: You'll have to explain why you think that they're not resizing correctly, and really, screen shots are most helpful if you are encountering what you believe to be styling issues. It's very hard to imagine the solution to the problem that I can't see.
I don't see any brown buttons on WC. Which buttons are you talking about? The buttons at the top of the house seem to go behind the status bar with a very large zoom, but there's no solution to that with the way that [Hedda] has the buttons at the moment. I can think of a solution to that, but it's a pretty rare circumstance.
2008-07-23 [windowframe]: No, manwe, I didn't find your frustration rude, I found your unnecessary and excessive patronisation rude.
2008-07-23 [True, plain and simple]: Mine appear fairly blue/gray, but that's not too important. Anyway, I think that it's something that shouldn't be difficult to fix, but I'll have to test first and then see if [Hedda] agrees that it should be changed.
when i am in a smaller window, and/or zoomed in, the message box does NOT resize and, in some cases
I don't know why that is. The size of the text field depends on the size of the text, so if you are zooming and the text size is changing the text field should be changing in a proportional manner. If it's not working right for you, I'm not positive that there's anything that we can here that would change that. If you're in a small window; well, I have to get the window pretty small to hide the message boxes, so again, whether or not we can actually do something about that..
2008-07-23 [windowframe]: Then, please manwe, stop bringing personal discussion onto the list. :)
2008-07-23 [Hedda]: [windowframe] and [manwe]: Can you stop being kids who are saying "You stop!" "No you stop!" "No you stop!!!".
Not answering is the way to end a discussion.
2008-07-24 [Mortified Penguin]: I enjoy all of the updates.
I would prefer, though, to have my name automatically added to the last visitors list, but be given the option to remove it, rather than add it. Of course, that's probably not going to happen... so yeah. Good job, Hedda! (Not you though, Guards. Shame on you all. You should really step it up around here... lazy jerks.)
2008-07-24 [Diiwica]: I was wondering, could there be like page versions like we have with Wiki's. I think all the time that I wish I could have something I used to have up but I never remember what it was word for word.
2008-07-24 [windowframe]: I take it you mean past page versions for your house?
2008-07-24 [Cia_mar]: i have thought about that before too... that would be cool!!!
it is good to have it for moods now...
so perhaps it is possible for us to have it for our description too?????
2008-07-25 [Diiwica]: Yes that is indeed what I meant
2008-07-25 [Hedda]: Versions for your house is on the TODO-list, but unfortunately the TODO-list grows faster than I can fix things on it...
2008-07-25 [Cia_mar]: still nice to know it is on the list though!!!!
2008-07-25 [Atayemi]: Or even a view difference button on houses? :3 I'm watching a few of my friend's houses, and some things change, but they are the tiniest changes possible I think because I can never see any difference when I look at them. xD
2008-07-25 [Diiwica]: Its great to know that it is on the to do list even if the list is long.
2008-07-25 [windowframe]: I think they want it more so they can see what changes have been made on other peoples' houses rather than their own. :P Whilst a secret wiki of your past house versions is indeed useful for you, it's not very useful for others. :3
2008-07-25 [Kelaria]: Okay... I'm going to be silly and say this:
On our houses where it says our age and birthday, is there supposed to be a colon after the word 'Age'? (Like this, 'Age:') because there are colons after everything else and I just think it'll look better and more consistent if there's a colon after 'Age' too... heheh ^^' sorry, but I just thought I'd bring it up... :)
Things are shaping up great, by the way! :) I like some of the new buttons (preview buttons, hooray!) and features a lot!
2008-07-26 [Kelaria]: Glad to be able to help! ^^ Thanks for fixing it so speedily! :D
2008-07-28 [Ramirez]: I like that interesting people thing. I was confused as to where it came from and was wondering if I had somehow missed it, but now I see it's a new update. =P It's very neat.
Edit: The only downside to it is that it leads to lots of houses that haven't been used for over a year. =(
2008-07-28 [Atayemi]: And some members are listed more than once, too.
